Creating Strong Relationships Creates Strong Families
There is no residential treatment center that can fix your family's problems. That is not what we are offering at Discovery Ranch South.
At Discovery Ranch South, you and your entire family will learn the skills and tools you need to be able to problem-solve and overcome challenges on your own. The ranch provides a safe and nurturing environment for your family to do deep emotional work.
Here at the ranch, teen girls develop their identities and explore new ways to overcome their challenges. At the same time, we provide parents with the tools and resources they need to create a great home environment.
Your daughter may take part in six core group therapy sessions throughout the week. She may also be in up to two specialty groups and will have two individual therapy sessions each week.
You will be involved in one family therapy session each week. These family therapy sessions typically take place via video conferencing.
Your child will be in equine therapy throughout her entire stay. Because horses are emotionally intelligent animals, during equine therapy, your daughter will see her own emotions reflected here in an honest, unbiased manner. Horses respond to people in the same manner that people respond to them.

At Discovery Ranch South, we understand that each girl is unique and has a different set of therapeutic needs to be met. We take a multifaceted approach to treating our students, with a combination of individual, family, group, and experiential therapy, all tailored to meet each teen’s unique needs.
At the heart of Discovery Ranch South’s approach is the belief that strong relationships drive meaningful change. Through diverse therapeutic experiences, teenage girls develop the emotional strength and skills they need to thrive.
- Individual Therapy
Individual therapy at Discovery Ranch South is dynamic and adaptable, taking place in settings beyond the therapist’s office—on horseback, during a walk, or by the boathouse. Each session is guided by a licensed clinician who helps teens navigate their emotions, challenges, and personal goals. Through one-on-one support, girls build trust, develop coping strategies, and gain insights that lead to lasting change. - Family Therapy
Healing extends beyond the individual—it involves the entire family. Through video conferencing sessions, on-site family seminars, and therapeutic home visits, parents and teens work through challenges together, rebuilding trust and communication. Families receive assignments to complete alongside their daughter, reinforcing progress made in therapy. The goal is to strengthen family bonds and equip parents with tools to support their teen’s long-term success. - Group Therapy
In group therapy, teens find connection and support among peers facing similar struggles. Led by master’s-level therapists, these sessions create a safe space to share experiences and learn from one another. Specialty groups, such as Grief and Loss, Body Image, and Attachment, address specific challenges while encouraging personal growth. Girls participate in one core therapy group, along with multiple specialized groups, making group work an essential part of their healing journey. - Experiential Therapy
At Discovery Ranch South, learning happens through action. Experiential therapy—including equine therapy, cow therapy, expressive arts, and outdoor adventure & recreation—translates abstract therapeutic concepts into real-world experiences. Working with horses, for example, teaches emotional regulation, responsibility, and self-awareness in ways that traditional talk therapy cannot. These hands-on activities help teens practice communication, resilience, and self-expression in a meaningful, lasting way.

Our program is designed to meet the unique needs of young women who come to Discovery Ranch South by fostering a supportive environment where they can connect with peers who share similar experiences. At Discovery Ranch South, treatment plans are tailored to each teen's specific needs to facilitate necessary changes for their success. Whether your daughter is dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, autism, or other behavioral issues, our experienced multidisciplinary team is committed to helping her develop the skills necessary for a thriving future.
At Discovery Ranch South, Your Daughter Will Have The Opportunity To Experience Life-changing Events
Discovery Ranch South offers a therapeutic program for teen girls that includes life-changing experiences and building strong relationships.
Every student participates in the Calf Program, which teaches them how to adapt to changing relationships by caring for a calf. Additionally, every student participates in Outdoor Adventure & Recreation or Performing Arts programs, which allow them to discover new hobbies and skills.
The ranch offers two unique opportunities for students who earn the privilege of participating, including an arts-based trip to New York in the spring and a service-based trip to Costa Rica in the fall. These trips are designed to help students step out of their comfort zone and connect to history, culture, and the arts.

You will also receive the results of the Y-OQ assessment in an email. The results of the assessment will show how your daughter compares to other young adults. You will get a better sense of your child's situation.

Family involvement is one of the most important aspects of helping your teenage daughter to recover. You will be kept up-to-date on her progress through the Parent Portal. The Parent Portal will allow you to watch your child's success.
